PPA - Polyphthalamide

  • High Stiffness and strength
  • 545 °F HDT
  • Best long term heat resistance
  • Excellent Flow
  • Extremely stiff but brittle
  • Excellent oil and fuel resistance

Polyphthalamide (PPA) is a semi-crystalline, aromatic polyamide. Compared to nylon 6/6, it is stronger, stiffer, less sensitive to moisture, and has higher thermal capabilities. It has good oil, fuel and solvent resistance.

PPA resins are suitable for a wide range of applications because of their outstanding physical, thermal and electrical properties. They are commonly used in applications to replace die cast aluminum and zinc for weight and cost savings.

Applications

  • Die cast replacement
  • Electrical components
  • Fuel handling components
